Oral Roberts University freshman engineering students Sarah Higginbotham, Connor McGraw and Thomas Monnier were recently awarded the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Auxiliary Lucy and Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarship.
The scholarship committee selected future Oral Roberts University students based on the notable accomplishments of the engineering program and the positive contribution of ORU’s ASME students. The scholarship was established by ASME in memory of the late Lucille V. Clarke and her father Charles W.E. Clarke.
Sarah Higginbotham graduated from Summit Christian Academy in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Higginbotham has always enjoyed mathematics and problem solving and naturally chose to pursue a degree in engineering. Upon graduating from ORU with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, she plans to pursue a career as a mechanical engineer.
Connor McGraw attended Francis Tuttle’s Pre-Engineering Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While there, he participated in both FIRST Robotics and the Real World Design Challenge. McGraw plans to pursue a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. He would like to work with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
Thomas Monnier graduated from high school in Wichita, Kansas. Monnier graduated with honors and also received a diploma from the International Baccalaureate Organization. He has always enjoyed building, design and organization. His career goal is to become a mechanical engineer in the automotive racing industry.
