Apprenticeships for Mechanical Engineering

You can apply for an apprenticeship with Mercury through Current Vacancies.

Mercury is the largest employer of mechanical and electrical apprentices in Ireland. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices are awarded a FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) National Craft Certificate. This certificate has national and international recognition and is a compulsory requirement for craftsperson status.

The development, training and mentoring apprentices receive while with us is unparalleled in the marketplace. As part of the overall Apprentice Development Programme, Mercury recognises apprentice’s contribution for a job well done through our annual ‘Apprentice recognition awards’. Apprentices enjoy a varied four years’ training in areas from oil and gas, commercial, pharmaceutical and manufacturing. On completion of the apprenticeship, Mercury commit to taking a number of exceptional newly qualified tradespeople back into the business to develop their career further with us.

At Mercury, we are proud of both the number and the quality of apprentices who have served their apprenticeship with us. Mercury recognises the need to ensure our staff are exposed and up-skilled in the latest technical developments associated with their trade. The apprenticeship is a minimum of four years and consists of seven phases: three off the job and four on the job. Solas and the Department of Education & Science have responsibility for providing the off-the-job training, while the apprentices’ on-the-job training takes place on-site with Mercury.
